When there is nothing left to add or take away in the design process, engineering perfection is achieved. The CAYMAN is made from a single piece of die-forged construction with a total thickness of 6 mm. It consists of 12 layers of wood that are glued together, using 3 different types of adhesive, and bent at specially designed angles.
User Experience
All the previous factors influenced the size and shape of the CAYMAN lamp, creating a superior object that does not burden the space, but rather visually expands and opens it up. When switched off, it looks like a beautiful sculpture, where just a single line of finely shaped wood accentuates the existing interior design of your home.
Lamp honesty
CAYMAN is designed with the lightest possible upper section, which was the only way to make the product long-lasting due to the weight load of the wood. The metal plate on the lamp base was added to create the impression and visual sensation that the lamp is "levitating," while technically providing additional downward force to the ground to increase the lamp's stability.
LED lighting position
The biggest challenge was making a compromise between the angles that provide lamp stability and the lighting angle.
The LED lighting is positioned so that CAYMAN can illuminate a 2 square meter table surface. The lights are at a height of 44 cm from the table surface at a 3-degree angle, which also represents the optimal position when sitting and working at a desk, as it provides perfect illumination that doesn't cause glare or strain for the user.
